Five of the Best Alcohol-Free Beer Breweries Out There

alcohol free beer

The non-alcoholic beer industry has grown and developed rapidly in the last few years. Nowadays there is a vast array of different alcohol-free beers available. Something for each and every flavour palate. Some of these taste remarkably like alcoholic beer, while others have their own unique and subtle flavour profiles. But which alcohol-free beer is the best? Well, here are some of our top favourite alcohol-free beers.

1. UNLTD Beer

UNLTD alcohol-free beer was born from a desperate search for non-alcoholic beer that tasted and looked good and was healthy. When founder Johnny Johnson decided he no longer wanted to waste Sundays in bed hungover, he quit alcohol. But soon he missed the taste of beer. However hard he tried he could not find a single alcohol-free beer that quite worked for him. So he created his own.

UNLTD beer now offers two award-winning types of beer:

  • The alcohol-free lager. This is described as “crisp, characterful and refreshingly sessionable”.

  • The alcohol-free IPA. This is described as having “ deep and complex malt flavours and a perfectly balanced bitter backbone”.

Both of these beers are low-calorie, vegan, gluten-free and high in vitamin B12. And they come in sexy and sophisticated-looking black, beer bottles, so anyone can feel badass and healthy drinking these non-alcoholic beers.

2. Bemuse Mead

Mead is one of the world’s oldest drinks, with a long and rich history dating back beyond the Ancient Greeks. The founders of Bemuse found this rich history inspiring. So they decided to add to it by reimagining mead for the modern, alcohol-free palate.

The friends who created Bemuse are  “on a mission to create intriguingly different drinks”. To do this they have brought out four different flavours of alcohol-free mead. You can choose from:

  • Original Hops Mead

  • Ginger and Cardamon Mead

  • Tarragon and Basil Mead

  • Wild Raspberry Mead

All of these drinks are made with ethically sourced and natural ingredients. The honey, which is at the core of any mead, is sourced from sustainable beekeepers and Bemuse works hard to raise awareness for bees. This is an alcohol-free drink you can drink without any guilt!

Brulo Beer

James Brown, the founder of Brulo, started the company in 2019 because he wanted to create high-quality, hop-forward, alcohol-free craft beer. He wanted to shake up the non-alcoholic beer world.

Brulo Beer now offers seven different types of craft alcohol-free beer. You can choose from the following:

  • King for a day NEIPA. This is a smooth and juicy New England IPA.

  • Lust For Life DDH IPA. This balances flavour, bitterness and drinkability, with an extra punch of hops.

  • Highway To Hell Lager. This is a classic, crisp and clean lager.

  • 7 Hop 7 Grain DDH IPA. This combines seven different types of hops with seven different grains to make a dank and dry beer.

  • Dry Hopped Stout. A blend of six grains with dry hops creates a dark-flavoured alcohol-free stout.

  • Sabro Galaxy DDH IPA. The Sabro Galaxy combines fruity flavours to make an alcohol-free IPA beer with a tropical twist.

  • 5 Fruit Gose. This is a refreshing, fruity and smooth non-alcoholic beer.

Every single one of these drinks is vegan, fully alcohol-free and completely delicious.

3. Days Beer

Days alcohol-free beer is alcohol-free beer freshly brewed in Scotland. Starting right at the beginning of the covid lockdowns in 2020, this alcohol-free brewery is building on a rich brewing tradition in Scotland, using the softer water found in the Lammermuir hills.

The process used to brew Days alcohol-free beer does not involve alcohol. This means that the beer is completely 0.0% abv and does not use any of the intensive de-alcoholisation treatments more commonly used in other non-alcoholic beers.

The founders behind Days Brewery want to bring back “beer moments” but without the side effects of beer. That's why they call their alcohol-free beer “beer for doing” - they want you to be able to do more with your time and get more beer!

Days offer two types of non-alcoholic beer, available in glass bottles or cans. You can choose from the alcohol-free lager or the 0.0% pale ale. All of these are made with locally and sustainably sourced ingredients and are fully vegan.

Big Drop Brewing

As one of the older alcohol-free breweries, Big Drop Brewing was founded in 2016, just before the big boom in the alcohol-free industry. It was created by two new fathers who were fed up with the lack of good-tasting alcohol-free beers available. So they decided to work on perfecting the art of brewing delicious, non-alcoholic beer, without needing to remove any alcohol, and therefore flavour, from the drink.

Big Drop Brewing now offers a range of six different award-winning, alcohol-free beers:

  • Paradiso Citra IPA

  • Pine Trail Pale Ale

  • Galactic Milk Stout

  • Uptime Craft Lager

  • Poolside DDH IPA

  • Coba Maya Cerveza

  • Woodcutter Brown Ale

  • Reef Point Craft Lager

All of these are made to taste so good that you won’t miss out on alcohol.
