Life really is more beautiful without

After reducing our alcohol intake throughout lockdown and being able to experiment with some amazing bottles of alcohol-free spirits and mixers presented in gorgeous glasses, we were faced with the social dilemma that we have heard from so many - what do we do when we start to go out again? We took a recent trip to the races where we would sometimes take a can of G&T for the train ride, however following a discussion at home, we decided that on this occasion the G&T would be substituted for a Sea & T!

It was an incredibly pleasurable journey. We were not only enjoying a delicious drink which had all the tang and bittersweet taste of a G&T, with high quality ingredients and zero alcohol, we also had the pleasure of discussing this drink on the journey, with it being a first experience for the both of us.

And an experience is what it was, making the start to our day perfectly delicious!

So, let us tell you a little bit about Sea Arch, as we are sure you are eager to know more.

It all started with the Coastal Juniper blend, a distilled non-alcoholic spirit incorporating all the beauty and freshness of the coast. With eleven carefully selected all-natural botanicals, to include sea kelp, samphire, juniper, cardamom and blood orange, it has real purity of flavour true to the spirit of the Devon coast, where founders, Sarah and Geoff Yates reside.

So, where did the idea for Sea Arch come from?

Sarah and Geoff both came from a catering and hospitality background running a wine bar in Torquay for four years. Like many of their customers, they were looking for a healthier lifestyle, but one that didn’t mean they had to miss out on socialising at venues where alcohol was traditionally served. So, their own personal search began for an alternative to an alcoholic spirit. It had to be made with the same skill and craftsmanship as an alcoholic drink, and worthy of being served with the same sense of style and sophistication.

From this, Sea Arch was born. Geoff bought a still and started experimenting with ingredients and flavours creating a first batch of Sea Arch. Today, Sea Arch still base the Coastal Juniper recipe on the original blend Geoff created, however they now work with some of the best distillers and mixologists to create the spirit they have today.

What does a sip of Sea Arch taste like?

Do you really expect us to give that away? You really do know us well - we are rubbish at secrets!

In the words of Sarah Yates herself who spoke with JOMO Club for the special Sober October Box ‘Using both a traditional copper pot and steam distillation, the hand harvested sea kelp and samphire deliver distinctive coastal herbal notes with slight saltiness and green freshness. Aromatic juniper berry and notes of sage add real depth of flavour. Coriander and grapefruit peel result in a clean, crisp feel on the palate with some peppery notes. Sweet blood orange adds complexity and, together with lemon undertones, drives the perception of juiciness. Cardamom spice gives a balanced warm finish.’

Last year Sea Arch launched their RTD (ready to drink) Sea & T range in a can. These open up new opportunities for alcohol-free, meaning you never have to be without a high quality, great tasting drink. Sea & Ts are perfect for a journey just like our train journey, a walk on the beach or even to bring to a more informal social occasion where you know having a drink will make things feel more comfortable.

Sea & T is a double measure of the Coastal Juniper spirit mixed with a light Indian tonic, Rose Sea & T is with a light raspberry and rose infused tonic for a twist on the classic. They are dry, complex and packed full of refreshing, grown-up flavours, as well as being low in calories, allergen free and vegan friendly.

If you’d like a personal review, we loved them both and as traditional G&T lovers they tasted just like a G&T. Richard preferred the Sea & T classic and as a sucker for bitter aperitif style drinks, I loved the Rose Sea & T Rose the most.

We now have alcohol-free drinks that incorporate the highest quality ingredients, taste powerful, ooze love and passion from the core and transport you to the coast with every sip. With drinks like these, life really is more beautiful without.

Sea Arch were in the Sober October Box with members trying both the classic Sea & T and Rose Sea & T. If you missed it, or would like to try them again, you can buy you own stash here.
