The Story Behind The JOMO Club Knitted Bottle Hats

The JOMO Story.

Back in August 2021, I prepared to launch the first ever JOMO Club, alcohol-free cocktail box. We prepared to pack the first JOMO Club box not knowing the journey ahead of us. It was a real family affair in the early days - 'packing day' we called it and it was pretty special actually. 

It was far from glamorous, but myself, my other half Richard, his amazing Dad Richard Snr, my Mum, my Step-Dad and my Grandma who said it was her favourite day of the month (86 years old and refused to sit down once - put us all to shame!) used to start in the morning in the barn where we stored our things and pack until it was all ready to ship. 

The Winters were cold in that barn, but everyone brought so much joy, love and positivity every single month - even when our fingers would go numb, we couldn't feel our toes and we put hot water bottles down our trousers.

So, where do the knitted hats come in?

Well, my amazing Mum and Grandma were so supportive when I launched JOMO Club (and just as supportive today). As we approached our first Christmas, wanting to make it as special as we could for our new members and for gifts, they thought of the idea of knitted bottle hats. Something extra special, hand-made and cosy. 

They began knitting and members LOVED them.

As we approach our 4th JOMO Christmas it has become a bit of a JOMO tradition. However, times have changed a little. We now have many more members, so we no longer pack ourselves in the cold barn, we have amazing packers who have taken the joy into their own hands. 

We also needed a few more hats than year one, so Mum & Grandma started knitting in January to make sure they were all done in time. We've also got a few more knitters who have joined the team. My Aunty Stef who lives in Los Angeles has got involved in the knitting action this year and my Mums friend, Laura too. Thank you to our amazing knitters!!!

So, coming from Buckinghamshire, Los Angeles and Kent, JOMO Club are sending our hand-knitted bottle hats with the November Monthly Box, the Festive Christmas Box and every bottle being sent from the JOMO Bottle Store in December to bring joy for the rest of 2024.

Each one is completely different and unique. Each one will be hand-knitted by one of our 4 knitters with their own character and style. We can't wait for them to be in your home and to maybe even gift to loved ones this Christmas.
