Drink for tomorrow: non-alcoholic spirits for plant based drinking and active living.

Close your eyes. You’re walking over a hill in your bare feet that is both sandy and grassy underfoot. You can hear the sound of something familiar but can’t quite work it out, so you carry on walking over the hill to get a closer look. You’re now over the hill and you can see the sea. You hear the gentle sound of the waves - people catching them with their surfboards, gently gliding.

Elements in the seawater activate the body’s healing mechanisms and support healing for diseases, asthma, bronchitis, arthritis and localised aches and pains. Also rich in magnesium, seawater helps release stress, relax your muscles, promote deep sleep and spiritually cleanse your aura.

The power of the outdoors and the power of plants. Good for our mind and our body. Not only do we love exploring and adore coastal living, but one of our favourite alcohol-free spirits have bottled this experience for us all.

Pentire have been founded on a love for coastal living - catching waves until dusk, camping on cliff tops and foraging hedgerows for unexpected bounty. After experimenting with the coastal flavours and ingredients, Pentire have created an alcohol-free drink that harnesses the power, beauty and immense flavours of plants.

Founder Alistair Frost shares, “We have an amazing growing climate here, especially for sea herbs. They are high in water content so they distil really well, taste delicious and are also really high in nutrients. Kind of the perfect combination really. Most of our ingredients grow between May & September so there is a natural cycle with the environment, sustainable sourcing, growing and harvesting before we begin distillation.”

So, what does Pentire taste like?

With a unique taste and a bottle that always sits on our bar trolley here at JOMO Club, I would recommend you try Pentire for something extremely different and a natural spirit. Both Pentire Adrift and Pentire Seaward are coastal, herbaceous and fresh. They are made by distilling fresh plants native to the headlands in Cornwall.

Pentire with a light premium tonic is a perfect combination garnished with rosemary for Adrift and grapefruit for Seaward.

What does Pentire’s Founder’s ideal daily ritual look like?

“It really depends on what the sea state, weather and waves are like. I love to get in the sea every day that there is waves, if there isn’t then perhaps a swim, a train run along the headlands or cycle. I love working in the morning with a clear mind, exercising around early afternoon. Although if there is a swell running then you kinda mix your day around where and at what time the waves will be best. Which can be a bit of a juggle with work but the benefits to how it makes you feel are just too good!”

So, if you are wondering what to do today, why not go for a nice big walk, or on an adventure, or pick up a copy of Pentire’s Porthole. All you have to do is go to @pentiredrinks to feel inspired.

If you missed JOMO Club’s November Box and would like to buy your own bottle of Pentire, you can do so directly on Pentire’s website here.
