A very serious sidekick for your alcohol-free drink

We aren’t embarrassed to admit how incredibly obsessed we are with snacking. Whether we are munching on a mid-morning protein bar before our workout or a bag of afternoon nuts, we love snacks and can really find a suitable time for them, at any time.

We aren’t alone by the looks of it, with almost 60% of people buying snacks as part of their weekly grocery shop.

Although snacks are good anytime, there is nothing like pouring a crisp alcohol-free spirit and tonic or whipping up a new cocktail creation to be paired with something extremely tasty.

Usually we went for popcorn, crisps, nuts maybe. Something with crunch, bite and some saltiness. That was until we found someone who took our snack game as serious as we did. Serious Pig everybody.

If you missed their Cornish Salted Almonds in the November JOMO Box, it was something special.

These almonds are a bit different to most salted almonds. They are oven baked. The award- winning Cornish Sea Salt then goes on a special way meaning oil isn’t used to stick the salt to the nuts and therefore does not taint the flavour.

Let us now talk about their crunchy snacking cheese. A whole wheel of mature Italian Quattrocento cheese, crumbled and baked in a super special oven. This creates an uber crunchy 100% cheese snack (something that is 100% cheese has our vote, but Italian Quattrocento cheese - stop it!!) Not only that, but they have flavoured variations including truffle, rosemary or caramelised onion.

Okay, we can’t talk about their entire range, but one last one - pickles. You’re either in or out for pickles. We are firmly in (shocker). They have used the finest tastiest baby gherkins and gently pickled them with garlic and a pinch of dill. They’re crunchy and tangy, not too sweet and perfect with a drink.

So, how did Serious Pig get so serious about snacking?


Well, Founders George Rice and Johnny Bradshaw wondered what the perfect snack would be to accompany their fine beverages while at the pub. They were also looking for proper sustenance to power them through to their late dinner. Several packets of crisps, nuts and scratching later, they agreed it had to be something more serious. They hit on the idea of ‘Post Peperami’ and the very next day Serious Pig was born!
