We speak with them to hear more about what inspired them to launch their range.
Q: We are so excited to Sip with you this Summer. Can we start with a bit about you and an introduction to Sip?
I’m Rhona, mum of three and founder of Sip. I came up with the idea for Sip between my second and third pregnancies. I loved how being pregnant gave me the perfect excuse not to drink and how it removed all the social pressure. Once the baby arrived, I found it much harder to say no without that excuse. As I grew more confident in saying no while still showing up socially, I realised I needed better options. Sip was born from that need - something you could grab, enjoy discreetly, and still feel like you’re having the real thing. No sugary mocktails or awkward soft drink. Just proper cocktails, made the way bartenders would, just without the alcohol.
Q: What was your passion and inspiration behind launching SIP? Honestly?
I just missed cocktails. As someone from a hospitality background, I’ve always loved the theatre and craft behind great drinks. My husband could grab a 0% beer anywhere but as a woman, finding a decent non-alcoholic option that felt intentional, elegant, and social was harder. Sip isn’t about cutting corners or adding flavour to water. We set out to make real cocktails just without the booze. I also wanted to serve a space that so many women find themselves in, especially through pregnancy or motherhood. So many of my friends have stopped drinking, but their options never matched their tastes.
Q: Why ready-to-drink cocktails, and why were these the four cocktails you set your heart on?
I’m a Marg mum, so Margarita was always going to be front and centre! It’s vibrant, fresh, and a real go-to. Negroni was a close second its bitterness works beautifully without alcohol, and it replicates that ‘grown-up drink’ feeling. The other two were about rounding out the range something a bit fruity, something a bit savoury so everyone can find a favourite. We didn’t want four of the same. It’s like a night out with your friends: everyone’s got their drink, and we wanted Sip to reflect that.
Q: Can you tell us the story behind the names?
The names are a nod to the feeling of a night out with your girls. Each one represents a personality something playful, confident, or cheeky. It makes choosing your drink more fun. You don’t just grab a Margarita, you grab her. It was about creating connection and identity with each can.
Q: Why was it so important to you when creating your cocktails to not include artificial ingredients or added sugars?
Because that’s not how a cocktail is made. Behind any good bar, you’re not getting preservatives or hidden sugars - we didn’t want them in Sip either. We wanted it to taste as close to the real thing as possible natural, well-balanced, and bartender-level crafted. That’s where the magic is.
Q: Can you talk to us about the cocktail we have in front of us today? What is it and what can we expect?
What you’re holding is a moment of freedom. It’s something you can drink socially, feel confident with in hand, and know it’s completely alcohol-free. It’s not about not drinking it’s about having a better tool for when you don’t want to drink. It still gives you your ritual, your taste, your unwind moment just without the booze.
Q: When launching SIP, you wanted to support conscious, enjoyable drinking experiences to support a mindful lifestyle. What 3 mindful moments do you choose in your week?
1. Sitting at the table midweek with my husband, no TV, just a proper drink and a chat.
2. Switching out my usual at-home Friday night drink for a 0% one, even if it’s not Sip. I love trying what else is out there it’s all part of the weekend wind-down ritual. Hitting the weekend fresh makes it even better.
3. Saying goodnight to my kids. That kiss, that pause, that little reminder of how tiny they still are. This is one I have stolen from podcast, but I’m practicing it and loving it at the moment.
Q: To finish, what is your idea of a perfect Summer’s Day and what is your sound of Summer?
A slow morning, going for a kid free run with a good podcast and then anything with friends and kids. I am from Scotland, so anything with a glimpse of sunshine please! The sound of my summer is classic chaos, kids laughing, crying and everything in-between – that’s why I need to be on my A game right now!
