As more people embrace mindful drinking, functional fizz is having a moment—and HOLOS Drinks is leading the way. Known for their small-batch kombucha and commitment to slow, intentional living, HOLOS has just launched a brand-new canned sparkling kombucha tea range that brings their signature fermentation to a portable, refreshing format. In this exclusive interview, we chat with the HOLOS team about the inspiration behind their sparkling teas, their brewing philosophy, and how these cans are making alcohol-free socialising more flavourful, elevated, and convenient than ever.

Welcome – Summer wouldn’t be complete without HOLOS. 

Can we start with what your perfect Summer’s day looks like? Sunshine, smiles, serene valleys and iced cold sparkling drinks.

So, tell us about HOLOS. We’d love to know who you are, what you are all about and what we can expect? 

Holos was founded in 2018, after two of our co-founders, Naomi and Megan, met whilst volunteering with survivors of exploitation in Cambodia. They discovered kombucha on this trip, so they came back to the UK and started Holos: small-batch, delicious kombucha, manufactured in West Sussex, supporting survivors of exploitation and trauma through meaningful work placements. 

When you launched in 2018, why was kombucha the route you went down? What was your inspiration? 

Our co-founder Megan discovered the gut-healing benefits of kombucha during her trip to Cambodia and felt inspired to bring it to the UK.

At the time, there were few traditionally brewed options available, and we saw an opportunity to craft something that not only tasted amazing but also offered real health benefits. We wanted people in the UK to discover both the flavour and the natural goodness of this remarkable drink.

Can you tell us about your social impact and your paid work placement initiative?

Our charity partners connect us to survivors of exploitation and trauma, who are ready for a fresh start. We provide paid work placements to help them build confidence, learn new skills and be part of a team. We recently launched the Holos Foundation, which helps support placement participants beyond employment with things such as counselling and further education.

What about the drink in front of us today?

This is a brand new launch which we are so excited to showcase to members! We've launched a new range of organic sparkling teas — tasty, healthy drinks crafted with care. Each of the three flavours has its own unique tea base, paired with complementary natural ingredients and enriched with gut-friendly bacteria. Chilled straight from the fridge is great, but we love it poured over a glass full of ice — it’s the perfect refreshing moment, whether you're taking a mindful pause or catching up with friends.

Is there a difference in Kombucha and Sparkling Tea?

Kombucha is a lightly sparkling soft drink made from fermented teas. It is drank for its complex flavour profile as well as its gut health benefits. Each drink in our sparkling tea range uses a different type of tea as its base and is fibre enriched. The two ranges have different flavour profiles as well as different functional properties.

Your products are all organic. Why should we be choosing organic and why was this so important to you when creating your range?

Organic ingredients are better for our bodies and for the environment. 

They use more sustainable farming practices and contain no nasty surprises. Being organic was a long term goal of ours from the beginning, and we know it means a lot to our customers. 

Have you ever used your drinks in a cocktail?

Our favourite would have to be the “boo-jito” - Mix lime juice, mint, crushed ice and honey with our basil & mint kombucha OR our cucumber & mint sparkling tea for the tastiest mocktail you’ve ever tried, and add some AF rum if you want some extra sass.

Can you talk to us about the benefits of kombucha and organic teas?

Kombucha is naturally rich in probiotics, which help support a healthy gut — something that’s increasingly linked to better digestion, stronger immunity, and even improved mental wellbeing. Our kombucha is traditionally brewed, keeping those live cultures intact. We use organic tea, full of antioxidants that help protect the body and support overall health. We've also added probiotics for gut health, giving you the best of both worlds: a refreshing tea with functional benefits. Both ranges are certified organic, so you’re getting clean, simple ingredients — no additives, no chemicals, just natural goodness.

Since your launch, have you seen a shift in consumer tastes and behaviours? 

Absolutely — consumers are becoming more conscious about the ethics behind the brands they support and the ingredients in their drinks. There’s a growing demand for cleaner labels and shorter, more transparent ingredient lists, which was a big focus for us when creating our Sparkling Tea range. People are no longer just looking for refreshment, but for products that genuinely support their health and wellbeing. It shows a real shift towards better choices.
